OncoBook

Community rules

Version 2026-11-01. Approved for launch.

OncoBook is a community for people living with cancer and those who care for them. These rules keep it respectful and safe for everyone.

1. Be kind

Everyone here is going through a difficult time. Be gentle, patient and respectful, even when you disagree. Insults, bullying, hate speech and harassment are not allowed.

2. Share experience, not medical advice

Share what happened to you and what helped you. Do not tell anyone to start, stop or change a treatment. Your treating doctor always has the final word. Verified doctors on OncoBook give general education, not personal prescriptions.

3. No miracle cures

Posts that promise cures, or promote unproven treatments, products or "secret" remedies, are removed.

4. No selling, no asking for money

Do not advertise, sell, ask members for money or payment details, or recruit people for anything. If someone asks you for money, report them.

5. Protect privacy

Do not share other people's names, photos, reports or stories without their permission. Keep what people tell you in private chats private.

6. Be yourself

You can use a nickname, but do not pretend to be someone else, and do not claim to be a doctor unless you are verified.

7. If you are struggling

If you feel you cannot cope, or you are thinking about harming yourself, please contact someone now: a person you trust, your doctor, or local emergency services. Our moderators will also reach out, with care, to members who appear to be in deep distress.

Reporting

Tap any message, then choose Report. A person reviews every report. Breaking these rules can lead to posts being removed, or accounts being suspended or closed.
